Downloading and Installing COMPASS 5.1

COMPASS 5.1 is available either as a complete download (for new COMPASS users or a first time install on a new machine) or as a smaller, modular "patch."

Download MODULAR COMPASS 5.1 Patch

Note: It is not necessary to perform this installation to use the Web-based COMPASS 5.1 tool. This procedure is only required if you need to install COMPASS 5.1 on your system so that you can access its content when not connected to the Internet.

To Install COMPASS 5.1 on Your Local Hard Drive (Full Install):

Step 1 Click here to download the COMPASS 5.1 installation file in zipped format, compass-51-complete.zip.

Tip: If given the option of saving or running the file from its current location, we strongly urge you to save the file to a convenient location on your hard drive, as this provides you with the most flexibility.

Note: The examples shown in this procedure are characteristic of what a user will see and do if using the WinZip® archive utility. You can extract contents of the COMPASS 5.0 ZIP-compressed file using this or any other compression program that recognizes the zip format, or in the alternative, using standard ZIP command line commands. Search the Internet for "ZIP file utility" if you do not currently have one installed.

Step 2 Locate the file you downloaded in the previous step, compass-51-complete.zip, on your hard drive and run it (double-click the file's icon).

The WinZip® window appears, showing the contents of the compass-51-complete.zip download file.

Step 3 Click the Extract button.

The Extract window appears. Select a convenient location for the COMPASS folder to be installed on your hard drive.

Note: We strongly suggest you select the root folder of your default (C:) drive.

Step 4 Check to ensure that the following selections are made in the Extract window:

"All files/folders in archive" - CHECKED
"Open Explorer window" - CHECKED or UNCHECKED
"Overwrite existing files" - CHECKED
"Skip older files" - UNCHECKED
"Use folder names" - CHECKED

Step 5 Click the Extract button.

When WinZip finishes extracting all the files in the archive, COMPASS 5.1 is successfully installed on your computer.

To run COMPASS 5.1 , locate the file "compass.htm" in the "compass" folder, and launch it. (Be sure to bookmark this file for future use!)

Downloading and Installing COMPASS 5.1 (Modular Telepresence Install)

If you require access to COMPASS 5.1 Telepresence content when you are unable to connect to the Internet, you can download COMPASS 5.1 and install the tool and its content on your local hard drive.

To Install COMPASS 5.1 Telepresence content on Your Local Hard Drive (Modular Telepresence Install):

Step 1 Click here to download the COMPASS modular Telepresence patch in zipped format, compass-51-telepresence.zip. This will add coverage for Cisco's Telepresence 1000 and 3000 into an existing COMPASS 5.0 installation.

Step 2 Locate the file you downloaded in the previous step, compass-51-telepresence.zip, on your hard drive and run it (double-click the file's icon).

The WinZip® window appears, showing the contents of the compass-51-telepresence.zip download file.

Step 3 Click the Extract button.

The Extract window appears. Select the location of your existing COMPASS 5.0 installation (usually C:\Compass) as the Extract to: location.

Step 4 Check to ensure that the following selections are made in the Extract window:

"All files/folders in archive" - CHECKED
"Open Explorer window" - CHECKED or UNCHECKED
"Overwrite existing files" - CHECKED
"Skip older files" - UNCHECKED
"Use folder names" - CHECKED

Step 5 Click the Extract button.

When WinZip finishes extracting all the files in the archive, your COMPASS 5.0 installation is successfully upgraded to COMPASS 5.1 on your computer.

To run COMPASS 5.1 , locate the file "compass.htm" in the "compass" folder, and launch it. (Be sure to bookmark this file for future use!)
